It was our pleasure to serve as table captains at today’s Champions for Children luncheon. Liberty House Child Abuse Assessment Center holds this fundraising luncheon every fall in an effort to spread the word about the vital services they provide to our community’s most vulnerable.
This year, we learned about the progress of their relatively new Hope and Wellness Services program. These counseling and therapy services have joined alongside the medical and assessment services the organization has become known for. They also shared a new training program: Stewards of Children Sexual Abuse Prevention Training. This program, administered by Darkness to Light, is available for individuals as well as organizations. It is the only nationally available training program proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes and change child-protective behaviors.
The program focuses on:
- Increased awareness of the prevalence, consequences and circumstances of child sexual abuse.
- New skills for recognizing, preventing and reacting to child sexual abuse.
- Proactive, positive input to change organizational policies and procedures.
- Individual commitment to action via a personal prevention plan.
It is hosted by Liberty House and available twice a month:
2nd Wednesday | 10am – 1230pm
4th Thursday | 530pm – 8pm
To learn more and sign up yourself or your organization, reach out to Kelly Parosa | 503.540.0288 | kparosa@LibertyHouseCenter.org. There is a $10 suggested donation to cover the cost of materials for the program.
Once trained, you and/or your organization will become a ‘Partner in Prevention,’ joining a network of individuals across the community working to keep our children safe. Please consider signing up for the next training and becoming a part of this powerful movement.
