Yesterday, while the rest of the staff was busy working, I had the opportunity to attend the annual luncheon supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties. While I’ve had a long connection the Boys and Girls Club of Western Lane County, and continue to provide one of the lead sponsorships for their annual fund raising golf tournament, this is the first luncheon I’ve attended in support of the Salem club. I was amazed to hear all of the good things that are happening right here in my back yard.
Our local chapter serves over 12,000 youth and operate 8 Clubhouses and Teen Centers in addition to a Health and Dental Service Center. This list of programs they run is so impressive it’s just not feasible to list in a short blog post, but I will tell you that each member is offered over 1,300 program hours annually. That’s amazing!
